Audacious
Stars: 5/5
Senator Barak Obama's poignant look at America is refreshing. His collection of thoughts on politics, life and values is substantial as well as simulating. I believe `Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream' is a complete review of his campaign platform for running for President 2008 - the table of contents is a dead give-away: Ch. 1: Republicans & Democrats, Ch. 2: Values, Ch. 3: Constitution, Ch. 4: Politics, Ch. 5: Opportunity, Ch. 6: Faith and so on.
Sen. Obama, a former president of the Harvard Law Review, does an outstanding job at articulating and bolstering his opinion on race relations, immigration, education and international policy, just to name a few. He provides an academic-like review of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and how they apply to the political issues of today.
Everyone would appreciate his candidness in his evaluation of the current state of politics: "The fact is, close to five years after 9/11 and fifteen years after the breakup of the Soviet Union, the United States still lacks a coherent national security policy. Instead of guiding principles, we have what appear to be a series of ad hoc decisions, with dubious results." (p.302)
Why be opposed to Reclaiming the American Dream? Certainly it would be better than the nightmare we are living now.
