Book Review: The Educational Thought of W.E.B. Du Bois

The Educational Thought of W.E.B. Du Bois

Stars: 5/5

The Educational Thought… is a scholarly examination of W.E.B. Du Bois’s views and opinion of education for African Americans at the turn of the century.   Alridge’s analysis transverses a period from 1896 to 1963 taking advantage of Du Bois’s many written compositions (including unpublished work) to situate Du Bois’s educational ideas within the “...larger social, economic, and political contexts of black life.”  From pragmatic to progressive to the advocacy of black studies, you will experience the undulating wave of ideas transforming over time as Du Bois adjusts his educational model to the ever-changing world around him.
