After re-reading The Piano Lesson, I watched the 'made for TV' movie, The Piano Lesson (Hallmark Hall of Fame DVD)
. In addition to the movie, which is a very good adaption of Wilson's play, there is an interview with the late August Wilson in the DVD's Special Features section. In the interview he explains where he got his inspiration for The Piano Lesson.
